Beautiful Boquete and The Lost and Found Hostel

After a long day on two busses we finally arrived in the cute town of boquete. Our super sweet hostel had a river running at the back of the hummingbird filled garden! Lovely to fall asleep to the sound of the river! We did a 3 hour round trip hike that took us to 3 beautiful waterfalls. Unfortunately just as we got to the third the unpredictable weather decided to open the heavens on us! My "waterproof" jacket does not really hold up in that much rain....

The next day was just spent trying to dry our clothes and wandering around the town. Lost and Found My brother Steven had volunteered at an awesome hostel when he was in panama a few years ago that we had to check out.
Lost and found hostel is a 15/20 minute hike up a mountain (with heavy ass backpack) but had stunning views of the mountain tops and volcano Baru. When the sky's clear you could just sit there and stare out!

When we arrived the weather was having one of its worst moments and before the hike we needed to hide under some shelter. A few minutes after we arrived so did another three lads, two super sweet South African brothers and our cheeky Irish chap Barry.

We then spent the next few days enjoying their company on a 5H hike/treasure hunt through the hostels forest, honestly more difficult than we all thought! But during this hike we ended up in amongst clouds as they were forming, walked through a massive tree (literally through it) and unfortunately could not complete the treasure hunt as the river we needed to cross was at chest level. On the way back a bunch of monkeys decided to attack us. I'm not exaggerating they were breaking branches up in the tree and dropping them on the path. A particularly large one would have knocked me out if I hadn't heard them! Still worth it.

For some reason on the same day we punished our legs by participating in a night hike through the jungle where we came across a few new animals. Otherwise most evenings were filled with games of cards against humanity, two many rum shots and a few games of giant (dirty) jenga and a trivia game which my group won (woooo suck it Rad)! At this point we were in need of sunshine having had enough of the cold weather and clouds so we headed down to the local canyon. Water levels were still super high but that didn't stop Rad and the boys from jumping in and trying not get swept downstream. A day of swimming, beers and music was the relaxation we needed after all the hiking.
